    ABI: 3.5M shipments for sport GPS devices & Apps

    According to a new report from market research firm ABI Research, the outlook for GPS-enabled sport and fitness devices and related smartphone applications “remains bright with more than 3.5 million shipments in 2009”. even if the shipments of dedicated sport and fitness hardware such as Suunto GPS watches, Garmin cycling computers, and GPS golf rangefinders are suffering from the recession, smartphone fitness applications such as MotionX-GPS are booming, with 1.2 million downloads in 2009.
